Bryan Cranston joins Power Rangers
The Breaking Bad actor’s head will appear in the Lionsgate/Saban Power Rangers reboot.
Stop the press, we’ve got a new hero in town! It’s today been confirmed that Bryan Cranston, star of TV’s critically-acclaimed Breaking Bad and 2014’s Godzilla reboot, has joined the cast of Power Rangers.
Cranston will play Zordon, who those of us who were around to see the original Power Rangers TV show will know, is the leader of the band of teenage crime-fighters, and whose head is seen floating in a tank under the watchful eye of his assistant, Alpha.
This isn’t Cranston’s first foray into the world of Power Rangers, however, as he leant his vocal talents to the characters of “Twinman and Snizard” in the original series, years before he became a household name as Walter White in Breaking Bad.

Little is known about the film at the present time, other than its status as a cinematic reboot of the original series, which premiered on the small screen back in 1993. A short plot synopsis, which I’ve included below, was released back in February, before a couple of photos of the film’s main cast – including the team suited up in their new Power Rangers attire and Elizabeth Banks’s evil Rita Repulsa – were also revealed.
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
We were also treated to the first poster for the film, which shows the gang having absolutely no respect for cars under a sparkling sky, with the tagline promising that “together we are more”.

Power Rangers will be released in the UK on 24 March 2017 and stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Becky G., RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, Elizabeth Banks and Bryan Cranston. The first trailer for the film is expected to be released in the near future.
