Deadpool 2 is coming

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s… Deadpool 2!

Logan may be the hottest film in the X-Men franchise so far, but fans of the adamantium-infused superhero in the States were treated to a sneaky little surprise when they took their seats to watch the new film this past week, as a surprise teaser trailer for Deadpool 2 aired before the film began.

The teaser, which Reynolds has since uploaded to his YouTube channel, shows Wade Wilson witnessing a street mugging, before running off to get changed into his Deadpool costume in a telephone box, whilst the Superman theme music plays ominously in the background.

As you would probably expect, there’s a number of other humerous and interesting references in the almost four-minute long teaser, including an appearance by none other than Stan Lee, a cinema which is (obviously) showing Logan and also a cheekily reference to Nathan Summers, who fans of Deadpool will know is the real name of The Merc With a Mouth’s buddy, Cable.

Teased as playing a major role in the sequel during the post-credits scene of the first Deadpool film (which we’ve included below), the casting of Cable has been kept very under wraps, but it now looks like we’ll be seeing an annoucenement very soon. Word on the street is that ex-James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan could be in the frame to play the character, after Reynolds posted an Instagram shot of himself, Brosnan and Hugh Jackman back in January.

There’s no official release date for Deadpool 2 just yet, other than the teaser’s timing of ‘coming… not soon enough’, but filming should be getting underway shortly if it’s to make it way into cinemas sometime next year.
