Elton John officially confirmed for Kingsman 2
Saturday night’s alright for… ummm… spying?
In what must surely be one of the most bizarre entertainment stories I’ve heard in a long time, it’s been confirmed today that Elton John – yes, the Elton John – is to star in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Elton announced the news himself via Instagram in the form of a new poster for the film which features his iconic star sunglasses.
The poster is similar to ones already shared by his co-stars Taron Egerton and Channing Tatum, and we may well be seeing one shortly from Die Another Day and X-Men actress Halle Berry, who is rumoured to be playing the head of the CIA.
I’m a huge fan of the first Kingsman film, and I’m really pleased that it did so well that a sequel has been greenlit – I’m excited to see The Golden Circle, but just hope that it lives up to the high standard set by the first. With such a stellar cast, however, I think it could be something super special – and doesn’t Elton’s involvement just make it all the more so?
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is currently in production, and is expected to arrive in US cinemas on 16 June 2017. No UK release date has yet been announced.
