Find out who you’re gonna call as the first Ghostbusters trailer materialises

The first full trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot features plenty of homages to the franchise’s past history.

It seems to have been a very, very long time coming since the principal cast of this year’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot was announced back in January of last year, but we’ve finally got a full, first look at the trailer for the film.

Starring Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates, Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan, as well as Chris Hemsworth as the team’s plucky receptionist, Kevin, Ghostbusters sees a new team of… ummm… Ghostbusters suit up to take on a wave of paranormal activity sweeping New York.

Who you gonna call? The new team of Ghostbusters are suited and booted.

Today’s first trailer plays homage to the long-standing Ghostbusters franchise, incorporating a funky new mix of the iconic theme tune and teasing the return of Ecto-1, the team’s iconic vehicle, as well as seemingly confirming that the saga’s long-associated resident ghost Slimer will make a return appearance. Sadly, there’s no visual confirmation in the trailer that any members of the original Ghostbusters team are back, however IMDb is reporting that Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver are set to make an appearance, so I’m hoping that we’ll see them pop up in pre-promotion for the film in some capacity before its official release to cinemas.

Directed by Paul Feig (Spy), Ghostbusters is released on 15 July. It includes writing credits for two of the original team, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis.
