Principal photography on the Ghostbusters reboot, helmed by Melissa McCarthy, is hotting up, and today, director Paul Feig has treated fans to the first official photograph from the film.
In a Tweet simply captioned ‘#whoyougonnacall’, Feig has continued his trend of releasing tidbits of information from the film via Twitter, with him previously releasing photos of the Ghostbusters’ updated ride – named Ecto-1 in previous films – as well as a look at the protagonists’ costumes hanging on a rack.
Little is currently known about the film’s plot, however the Boston Herald has revealed that McCarty and Wiig play Erin Gilbert and Abby Bergman “unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real”.
“Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. (Like the original, the story takes place in New York City, even though it’s being shot in Boston.) Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.”
Ghostbusters is to be released in the UK on 15 July 2016 and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in the title roles, as well as Chris Hemsworth and Neil Casey as the film’s as-yet-unnamed villain.
