There’s just five months to go now (squee!) until The Hunger Games saga reaches its conclusion in this year’s Mockingjay, Part 2, which promises to bring a blistering end to the franchise’s cinematic offering if today’s first teaser trailer is anything to go by.
Donald Sutherland looks to be on epic form as the evil President Snow – a part that he’s played to subtle perfection over the course of the previous three films – and it’s nice to see Josh Hutchinson’s Peeta and Katniss hug it out after that crazy reunion in the final few minutes of Mockingjay, Part 1.
As you’d expect, there’s an overwhelming air of finality to this teaser, which we think will probably form the bulk of the film’s marketing campaign from now until its release on 20 November, but after a slow start in 2009’s The Hunger Games, followed by two stellar instalments in Catching Fire and last year’s Mockingjay, Part 1, we’re pretty confident that this year’s conclusion to the worldwide phenomenon won’t disappoint, especially after we named it one of our must-see movies of 2015.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Donald Sutherland as President Snow, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee.
