Love that Joker?
Suicide Squad director David Ayer has revealed the first full look at Jared Leto as The Joker.
OK, so we were a little bit geeky with the title of this article, paraphrasing a quote from Tim Burton’s 1898 film, Batman, but we’ve just got a first look at the new Joker for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and he looks awesome!
2015 marks the 75th anniversary of Batman, so it’s the perfect year for both Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to be in production and both director Ayer and Joker actor Jared Leto have been very vocal on Twitter when it comes to previewing the film. Production for Suicide Squad is now in full swing and today’s full reveal comes after Leto’s tweeting of several sneak peeks at his gradual transformation into Batman’s most villainous and iconic foe, The Joker. After press photos appeared online which apparently showed Leto previewing The Joker’s look to a friend on a smartphone, it was only a matter of time before an official photo was revealed.

We’ve been analysing this picture for a while now, and it’s so cool to see a completely different version of the character from the ones already portrayed to excellent form by both Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger. We’re especially loving the fact that he’s got his own catchphrase tattooed all over his body, and the ‘Damaged’ tattoo on his forehead is a nice touch. We’re hoping to see a Joker who is a little more deranged than the campy version played by Nicholson and the dark, brooding one played by Ledger.
We don’t know about you, but we’re extremely excited for this film – to hinge an entire film around a group of people who are villains is incredibly unique, and we’re all fascinated to see how it comes off, especially as it includes such iconic characters from Batman lore. It’s going to be the first time we’ve seen a live-action version of Mr. J and his doting sidekick Harley Quinn on screen together – the latter played by Margot Robbie – which will be a real thrill if they manage to pull it off.
Suicide Squad is released to UK cinemas on 5 August 2016 and stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Carla Delevingne, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnerman and Will Smith.
