Marvel release official synopses for Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2

Marvel’s upcoming film properties have finally been given official write-ups.

It’s crazy to think that Doctor Strange, the newest addition to Marvel’s roster of heroes, lands in the UK in October and, until today, we were still no closer to really knowing what the film was about!

That’s all changed, though, as the film’s official synopsis has been released, along with that of the sequel to 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the imaginatively named Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, principal photography for which wrapped just this past week.

First up, it’s the Benedict Cumberbatch-led Doctor Strange:

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

In addition to Cumberbatch, Doctor Strange stars Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, as well as Hannibal himself, Mads Mikkelsen, who will also be seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, due for release this December. Doctor Strange is set to be released in the UK on 28 October, and the first trailer was released a couple of months ago.

Next up, it’s time to saddle back in with the crew of the Milano for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2. Once again reuniting all the returning leads, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista will be uncovering the secret of Peter Quill’s father, a question which loomed ominously over the events of the first film.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Director James Gunn has been posting behind-the-scenes snippets all over his Twitter of late, so we’ve had a steady stream of information being drip-fed to us since shooting began, and we’ll see Guardians 2 have a very heavy presence at this year’s Comic-Con, which kicks off next month. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 is set for a UK release on 28 April 2017, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for some more concrete information to be released.
