See the first posters for the Alice In Wonderland sequel

Johnny Depp’s back as the Mad Hatter in the sequel to 2010’s Alice In Wonderland.

It’s been a bit quiet on the Alice In Wonderland front over the past few years, after the sequel to the 2010 live-action film was announced back in 2012. Since then, however, it seems production hasn’t slowed down any and at D23 yesterday, fans were treated to the first posters for the sequel, due to be released next year.

Titled Alice Through the Looking Glass, the film will once again star Mia Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, with cast members Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway returning to their roles as the Red Queen and White Queen, respectively. Director of Alice In Wonderland Tim Burton will handle producing details with direction by James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted).

At the same event, Disney also announced that Sacha Baron Cohen is joining the cast as new character Time, with a clip of his character telling Wasikowska’s Alice “you cannot win in a race against Time” being shown to the gathered audience.

Alice Through the Looking Glass is set for a UK release on 27 May 2016.
