Spider-Man’s back in the final trailer for Captain America: Civil War
Battle lines are drawn. Friendships are broken. Spider-Man is back. The final trailer for Captain America: Civil War is here.
Five solo films and two ensemble pieces have all led to this, the definitive battle between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It’s good v. good, friends v friends in the final part of the Captain America trilogy which started way back in 2011 with The First Avenger. Come April (for us UK fans, anyway), Marvel are promising the line-up of Avengers as we currently know it will be changed forever.
The final trailer for Captain America: Civil War has arrived, and it looks absolutely incredible!
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, Civil War centres around the struggle between Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers and Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, who are at loggerheads over the Serkovia Accords. These Accords, created in the wake of the Serkovia incident from last year’s Age of Ultron, propose all superheroes are placed under the watch of the government, a stipulation Rogers completely opposes and Stark completely agrees with. Unfortunately, this leads to the mother of all disagreements, and all of the current Avengers are forced to choose a side in the face-off to end all face-offs.

On Stark’s side is his good friend Colonel James Rhodes – War Machine – along with Black Widow and The Vision, who we were introduced to in Age of Ultron, alongside a new hero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther.

Of course, as you’ll most likely already know, Team Iron Man is rounded out by the introduction of another new character to the MCU, although one well known to comic book fans around the globe, Spider-Man. Since Marvel bought the rights to the Spider-Man franchise back in 2015, it’s been rumoured heavily that the character’s first introduction would be in Civil War, with solid confirmation of that fact coming a couple of months ago. Today’s trailer brings our first look at the new Spider-Man (although there’s no look at his true identity, Peter Parker), played this time around by relative newcomer, Tom Holland. There’s not much ‘official’ information out right now which details how Spider-Man will become entangled with The Avengers, or how large a role he’ll play in Civil War before his first solo outing next year, but some pretty convincing details were leaked earlier this year, which make for a very interesting read!

Opposing them, then, is Captain America, with his roster of allies who include Hawkeye, Ant-Man and Bucky Barnes, as well as Falcon, Scarlet Witch and Sharon Carter – the daughter of Steve’s long-lost love, Peggy, who we first saw in 2014’s The Winter Soldier.
Disney and Marvel also treated us to a slew of new character posters for each member of the each team – minus Spider-Man, of course, as these posters were released just prior to the trailer dropping – which I’ve included in the gallery below.
