Suicide Squad character posters make their debut

A series of character posters for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad have been released.

Ahead of a brand new trailer hitting the web in two days – as confirmed by Margot Robbie on Twitter – Warner Bros. have treated us to a slew of new character posters, as well as a new ensemble poster, for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.

Each one of these posters is fantastic and, when viewed as a series, you can really see the gritty, manic direction this film is taking – there’s so much to love about where this is going, and I think fans are going to be super, super excited when the film finally lands in August.

Not only that, but the arrival of Suicide Squad also means that we’ll get another glimpse of Ben Affleck’s Batman, as he’s confirmed to make a cameo following his first appearance in March’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Even if it’s just a fleeting scene (which I very much hope it isn’t!), it’s going to strengthen the ties between each film in the new DCEU (that’s the ‘DC Extended Universe’, DC’s answer to Marvel’s MCU) even more.

In case you haven’t been following the news, Suicide Squad follows a band of villains who are tasked by A.R.G.U.S’s Amanda Waller to take part in ‘deniable ops’ in exchange for clemency from their nefarious misdeeds. The group includes some famous names such as Batman villains Killer Croc, Jared Leto’s new take on The Joker and, of course, his right-hand woman, Harley Quinn. In addition, fans of TV’s Arrow may be familiar with Deadshot, played in this big-screen adaptation of Suicide Squad by Will Smith.

I’ve included all the posters below, so take a look now and let me know what you think, and whether you’re as hyped for Suicide Squad as I am, by dropping us a Tweet to @screeningapp.

Suicide Squad is released in the UK on 5 August 2016 and stars Will Smith as Floyd Lawton/Deadshot, Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, Carla Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Waylon Jones/Killer Croc, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang.
