Fans of the hit TV series Absolutely Fabulous are in for a treat this year, as the big screen adaptation is finally hitting cinemas after a long spell in production and, to prove it, the first trailer has just been released!

Starring series creators Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, Absolutely Fabulous will see the ladies’ two characters – Eddie and Patsy – as they journey to the glamorous French Riviera for a “straight up on the rocks and with a twist” adventure, or so the trailer’s voiceover has us believe.

Set to be filled with fun, frolics and all the usual style associated with the franchise, Absolutely Fabulous sees Eddie and Patsy flee penniless to the Cote d’Azur after a disastrous incident at the launch of one of London’s trendiest hot spots, for which the two are blamed.

Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie stars Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, alongside an all-star cast including Kim Kardashian West, Rebel Wilson, Carla Delevingne, Dawn French, Chris Colfer, Gwendoline Christie, Lulu, Emma Bunton, Jerry Hall, Kate Moss, Jane Horrocks, June Whitfield, Celia Imrie and Joan Collins. The film will hit cinemas in the UK on 1 July 2016.

The official synopsis reads:

Edina and Patsy are still oozing glitz and glamor, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hot-spots. Blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forever more!
