Warcraft has a trailer. See it now.
The first trailer for Warcraft promises all-out action between humans and orcs.
The first trailer for Warcraft, the live-action adaptation of the hit gaming franchise World of Warcraft has landed, hot on the heels of a number of posters showcasing Lothar and Durotan, the film’s main protagonists.
Unveiled at Blizzcon, which The Verge describes as ‘the annual celebration of [their] major franchises’, today’s trailer reveal is the first footage to debut to the public, and comes (not so) hot on the heels of an extended look which premiered first at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego but which is sadly yet to see a public release.
As someone who’s heard a lot about this film, but who’s never played the WoW games, I have to admit that my curiosity was peaked by this – and that’s a fact that hasn’t changed after seeing the trailer! It seems to borrow very heavily from the Lord of the Rings franchise, with shades of lots of other fantasy films mixed in – I was reminded very strongly of 2006’s Eragon. The motion-capture characters look absolutely fantastic and extremely well realised, a definite sign of the times – the Screening team will definitely be taking a trip to our local cinema to see this upon its release next year.
Warcraft stars Travis Fimmel as Lothar and Fantastic Four‘s Toby Kebbell as Durotan, with Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia!) making an appearance as King Llane Wrynn. Warcraft arrives on UK shores on 3 June 2016; the first posters for the film are in our gallery below.
